The Return of Bilal

Ok so it's Sunday morning, and I'm up relatively early(ish). I need to make sure the room is clear and sheets and blankets are on the cot and Moses basket; generally make it pleasant.

I'm not sure if all dad's get like this, but I'm starting to feel an overwhelming sense of responsibility and urge to make everything safe for Bilal. I purchased an anti-fungal/bacterial cleaning agent to clean out the air-con in the car. Also I feel this niggling urge to get the brakes checked on the car too. It's been raining non stop for two days now, and it's just started thundering, but I want to clean the car if i get time. I'm so silly.

  1. So, you've chosen a name? Bilal - it sounds lovely and a period of extensive research (wikipedia!) tells me that Bilal was the first muezzin, known for his beautiful voice :-)

  2. Yeah you got it. He was also one of of the Prophet Muhammad's (pbuh) closest companions. He was a slave in pre-Islamic Mecca, and when his 'owners' became aware of his conversion to Islam they began to torture him severely. When Muhammad (pbuh)found out he put a stop to it by purchasing Bilal from his owner and setting him free, slavery is not allowed in Islam.

Also as you mentioned, when the first prayer was due, he chose Bilal to call the Adhaan because of his lovely voice. He was well loved and known for his charity and generosity to others.

  3. Sounds like you're goig slightly bonkers my friend. Don't worry, when Bilal and Helen come home you'll see that you have little time for the small things and be content just to shore things up :-) Enjoy it!
